A certified true copy is a photocopy of an original document that a notary or authorised official has compared with the original and certified as a true and complete copy. It lets you keep your original while submitting an officially recognised copy.
Universities, banks, embassies, employers and foreign authorities often ask for certified copies of passports, diplomas, transcripts, birth certificates and company documents. Can you certify a copy from a scan?
No. To certify a copy as true, the notary must see the original document.
Is a certified copy accepted by embassies?
